For example, the increased availability of vitrified and porcelain tiles has led to the development of vitri-technology – the polymer modification of products for use with these specific non-porous tiles. In addition the requirements to fix tiles on to unusual substrates, including timber, has led to the development of specialised tile adhesives like Timberfix and Bis-flex, products whose flexural strength allows limited movement facilitating use with substrates that are prone to slight distortion.
